Kara Strickland (‘08) earns GSAC Volleyball Player of the Week!  
DECATUR, Ga.- The Great South Athletic Conference is pleased to announce this week's Weekly Honor Roll recipient for volleyball for the week ending Sept 18. Kara Strickland, a senior outside hitter from Pleasanton, California representing Maryville College, takes home the volleyball crown after an outstanding week for the Scots.  Leading the way for the Scots last week, Strickland helped Maryville College to a 3-1 record this week with key wins over Covenant, Hollins, and Roanoke. She posted a double-double against Covenant (11 kills/15 digs) and Roanoke (10 kills/ 10 digs). She attacked at an amazing pace .714 (10 kills, 0 errors, 14 attacks). On the week Strickland tallied 32 kills, 7 set assists, three service aces, 56 digs, and three block assists.

Gabby Jolly (’09) was named WCC Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season.  Jolly  averaged 2.89 kills per set and 1.33 blocks per set, while hitting .488 in a win over both LMU and Pepperdine.  Congrats Jolly!  (Photo courtesy of SMC Athletics/Tod Fierner)


Molly Ratto (’10) and Devin Shaver (‘10) have played each other in two conference matches.  The first took place at Chico State where Sonoma won 3-0.  The second match took place at Sonoma State where they again squeaked out a 5 set victory.  Ratto and Shaver played in both matches and Ratto had an impressive 21 digs in the second match.  


Betsy Sedlak (2008 18 and under Bronze medalist) just earned the Big West Conference player of the week.  She is currently showing some impressive numbers with a .495 hitting average.  That is the highest in the Big West and is #4 in the NATION for Division 1.  Way to go Sedlak!  NorCal could not be more proud of you!!! 



Congratulations to Chelsea Raschoff (2008 18 and under Bronze medalist) who just made the cut from the top 8 to the final 4 for the Under 21 USA Beach National Team!  She will head to their training facility next week in preparation for competition in Turkey in September.  

Lindsey Fogarty, 2006, has been named as an America East All-Conference First Team Honoree.  Fogarty finished second in kills (3.95 kps), eighth in aces (0.27 aps)  and second in points (4.42 pps). Fogarty was a two-time America East Player of the Week (Sept. 28, Nov. 16).  Way to go Fog!!

Saint Marys College earns the 2009 WCC Championship for the first time in SMC history and is the first DIV I volleyball team to earn a spot into the NCAA.  SMC is lead by coaches Rob Browning, Sam Crosson, and Keegan Cook who are all NorCal coaches.  Gabby Jolly, 2009, is also on the roster at SMC.  Way to go Gaels!

Kara Strickland ,2008, has been awarded the honor of All Conference Team as well as All Academic Team for the GSAC conference. She has tallied 206 kills, 328 digs, and 50 aces so far this year. Her team is advancing now to NCAA.

Gabby Jolly, 2009, and now a freshman at Saint Marys College recorded a career-high eight kills on 16 swings for a .438 attack percentage.  She also recorded three block assists in their 3-1 win against Gonzaga on October 24th.

Katie Gellerman, 2008, recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs to help Cal State East Bay defeat Chico in 3 sets.

Delaney (TK) Gordon, 2009, recorded 6 digs and 3 aces vs SMU on Sept 19th.

Sydney Kordic, 2009 recorded another 17 digs vs Alabama on Sept 12.

2009 Teammates Krista Miller and Gabby Jolly took opposite sides of the court when Saint Mary’s played San Jose State on Sept 9th.  

Samantha Noland, 2006, is the second leading attacker statistically for the UNLV Rebels.  She is hitting .258 with 37 kills on the season as of Sept 15th.

Lindsay Fogarty, 2006, recorded 11 kills and 4 blocks for New Hampshire Wildcats in their win against Bentley on Sept 2nd.  

Sydney Kordic, 2009, records 17 digs in her first NCAA Div I match vs. Siena.

Robyn Hall, 2008, has 10 kills in her first match as a San Francisco State Gator on August 28th.  

Betsy Sedlak, 2008, records 7 kills in her first match as a Davis Aggie on August 28th.
